Bulk Importing
To bring over a list of customers from another system, create many users at once from a CSV file.
Import users
- On the Dashboard Users page, click the down arrow next to New User, then Import Users.
- Upload your CSV file. Each row is one user.
- Map your columns to the Propcart fields. Email is the only required field. Columns named like the Users export (First Name, Last Name, Display Name, Email, Phone, Title, Company and Project) map themselves.
- Click Next. Propcart checks every row and lists any errors by column and row number. Fix them in your file, then click Re-upload CSV file.
- Review the summary, then click Complete Import. Keep the page open until the import finishes.
A file can have up to 10,000 rows. Users are created one at a time, so a large file can take a while.
How each row is imported
- New users only. A row whose email already belongs to one of your users is skipped, and that user isn't changed. Emails are matched in any case, so
Ann@Example.commatchesann@example.com. - Each email can only appear once in a file.
- Shoppers, not staff. Imported users can sign in to your webstore, not your Dashboard. To make someone staff, edit them after the import.
- Names: without a Display Name, a user is named from their First and Last Name, or their email if those are blank too.
- Address: map your address columns to Address Street, Address City, Address State, Address Zip and Address Country. The country must be spelled as one of these, in any case: United States, Australia, Brasil, Canada, México, United Kingdom, Hungary, Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Cyprus, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, The Netherlands, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia or Spain.
- Approved:
TRUEapproves the user to shop your webstore andFALSEdenies them. Blank leaves them pending, the same as a user created with the New User button.
Emails
Welcome emails aren't sent unless you map a Send Welcome Email column and put TRUE in it for that user. Neither are the "New user" emails your team would otherwise get for each one.
If you've integrated with Mailchimp, imported users are added to your Mailchimp audience as subscribers. Only import people who agreed to hear from you.
If a row fails
If a row can't be imported, the others still are. The summary lists the rows that failed and why, and lets you download them as a CSV to fix and import again.
Billable records
Imported users count toward your billable records. If an import would go over your plan's limit, you'll be asked to upgrade or import fewer users.
