Consignment

Consignment is for prop houses that rent or sell inventory they don't own. You hold someone else's items, rent them out, keep an agreed percentage of the revenue and pay the rest to the owner.

That owner is a consignor, and the document that tells them what they earned is a statement.

Make sure you have the Has Consignors? toggle enabled in your Consignor Settings.

The Propcart Consignment system is divided into two tabs: Consignors and Statements.

Relationships

Consignment sits alongside your normal sales workflow rather than replacing it. You rent consigned items on ordinary orders and invoice them like anything else; consignment only decides who gets paid afterward.

  • A consignor owns one or more items in your inventory
  • A consignor has one or more contracts that set their revenue share and fees
  • A consignor has one or more statements, each covering a date range

Consignors and consignor Statements count toward your billable records.

Consignors

A consignor is the person or business whose items you're holding. Their record stores contact details, tax information, the contracts that govern their revenue share and a running total of what you owe them.

Statements

A statement reports one consignor's revenue for one period — usually a calendar month — and calculates what you owe them after fees.

Artists

If you're a cleared art gallery, see Artists. Artists and consignors are separate features today, though they will be merged in the future.
