Marketing Channels

Marketing is simply getting more customers to know about your business today than they did yesterday.

How will new and existing customers learn about your business and find your webstore?

We'll use some of the information below in the footer of your webstore.

Do you have a Google Business Profile?

This helps customers find your brand on Google and leave reviews. We use this for displaying the Google Map location of your business.

If not, set one up here: https://www.google.com/business/

Instagram account?

Your Instagram link will appears in your webstore's footer.

  1. Set one up at https://www.instagram.com/
  2. In settings, find Account and tap Switch to Professional Account.
  3. Pick a category that best describes your business, then select Business.

Facebook Business Page?

Your Facebook link will appears in your webstore's footer.

Set one up at https://www.facebook.com/pages/create/?ref_type=registration_form

Other social media

Other social media options for your webstore's footer include Apple Podcasts, Pinterest, Spotify Podcasts, Twitter, Yelp, and YouTube.

Mailchimp account?

Propcart has an integration with Mailchimp's email marketing software, which is free for up to 500 contacts and 2,500 monthly email sends.

Subscribers to your newsletter and new users will automatically be added to your Mailchimp audience.

Once you've set up your Mailchimp Account, integrate it with Propcart using the Mailchimp Integration Guide.

Online Directories

caution

Our prediction is that online directories are dying businesses and will eventually be replaced by Google, so pay for listings wisely.

Before Google became as advanced as it is today, many buyers used physical (e.g. phone books) and then online directories for finding prop houses, prop fabricators and cleared art galleries. These include:

International

United States

Canada

United Kingdom

And there are many others. Some regional film commissions also have their own directories for vendors in their area.

Art Department Communities

There are online communities where art department professionals gather to ask and answer questions such as where to find props or other industry information.

Facebook

Many active Facebook Pages are dedicated to these regional communities and are a great way to advertise your business and help the community.

SDSA

The Set Decorators Society of America has chapters in Los Angeles, New York City, and Atlanta. They have membership meetings via Zoom and at local prop houses which can be good networking events. The SDSA regularly spotlights a business member on their website and newsletter, and business members often get "shout-outs" in SETDECOR articles.
